§ 11.14. Temporary duties in a higher classification.

  • (a)

    The Department Head may designate a person from the next lower classification to temporarily fill a position in a higher classification. The designated person is entitled to the base salary of the higher position plus any other applicable pay including, but not limited to, longevity pay.

    (b)

    The temporary performance of the duties of a higher position by a person who has not been promoted as prescribed by this article may not be construed as a promotion. A Sworn Employee may perform duties in a higher classification for a maximum of one-hundred eighty (180) consecutive calendar days as long as no vacancy exists. All vacancies will be filled in accordance with other provisions within this article.
