§ 98-3. Same—Inspections.

  • Officers and employees of the water and sewer department, whose duty it may be to enter upon private premises to make inspection of pipes, private wells and fixtures, or attachments used in connection with the city's water and sewer lines, will be provided with a badge or other credentials to identify them as officers and employees of the water and sewer department. Any officer or employee of the department shall, upon presentation of his badge or other credentials provided for in this section, have free access at all reasonable hours to any premises supplied with city water or receiving city sewer service, for the purpose of making any inspection of connections upon the premises or of otherwise enforcing this chapter. In case any employee is refused admittance to any premises or is prevented from making such inspection, the director of the water and sewer department may cause the water to be turned off from the premises forthwith; and in addition such owner or occupant may be punished as provided in section 1-5. No person not an officer or employee of the water and sewer department shall have, wear, or exhibit any badge or credentials of the department. It shall be the duty of every officer or employee of the department, upon resignation or dismissal from the department, forthwith to surrender and deliver to the department at the director's office all badges and credentials of the department in his possession.
