§ 90-6. Truck routes established.

  • (a)

    No person, firm, or corporation shall operate any vehicle exceeding 40,000 pounds gross weight at any time upon any street in the City of Haltom City, Texas, except:

    (1)

    Interstate Highway 820 from its intersection with the west city limits of Haltom City to its intersection with the east city limits of Haltom City;

    (2)

    U.S. Highway 183 from its intersection with the west city limits of Haltom City to its intersection with U.S. Highway 377;

    (3)

    Midway Road from its intersection with U.S. Highway 377 to its intersection with U.S. Highway 121, also known as Airport Freeway;

    (4)

    East Belknap from its intersection with the southwestern city limits of Haltom City to its intersection with the east city limits of Haltom City;

    (5)

    U.S. Highway 377 from its intersection with East Belknap to its intersection with the north city limits of Haltom City;

    (6)

    Carson Street from its intersection with the south city limits of Haltom City to its intersection with Midway Road;

    (7)

    Minnis Drive from its intersection with the south city limits of Haltom City to its intersection with Midway Road;

    (8)

    U.S. Highway 121A, also known as Airport Freeway, from its intersection with the east city limits of Haltom City to its intersection with the west city limits of Haltom City.

    These streets, or parts of streets, shall be known as truck routes. Such vehicles may be operated over other streets for the purpose of delivering or picking up materials or merchandise and then only by entering such street at its nearest intersection with one of the truck routes described above no farther than the destination of its pickup or delivery and return to the truck route by the nearest and most direct route.

    (b)

    The chief of police shall cause to be erected signs upon the streets which are not truck routes, which signs shall be the type to conform with the "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices."

    (c)

    Any person, firm, or corporation operating a vehicle with a gross weight in excess of 40,000 pounds over any street in the City of Haltom City, Texas, which is not listed in subparagraph (a) hereof as a truck route shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined not in excess of $200.00.

    (d)

    If any portion of this section shall be found to be invalid for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the remaining valid portions of the section.
