§ 2-36. Method of appointment of board and commission members.

  • (a)

    Nominations to boards and commissions, unless otherwise provided by the Charter or the Code of Ordinances, shall be made by the council member who serves in the corresponding place on the city council. The mayor shall nominate the member to serve in place 8 on the board or commission.

    (b)

    The mayor and each council member shall nominate a member to each board or commission, unless otherwise provided by the City Charter or this Code. The city council shall confirm nominations for appointment to the board or commission in order for an appointment to be effective.

    (c)

    In making appointments, the city council shall appoint a person to serve on not more than one board or commission that has regularly scheduled meetings. For purposes of this section, a board holds regularly scheduled meetings if it meets at least once a month. The city council may appoint a person to serve simultaneously on a board or commission that has regularly scheduled meetings and an ad hoc board or committee or a board that does not have regularly scheduled meetings.

    (d)

    Only persons who have resided in the city for at least 12 months shall be considered for appointment to city boards and commissions unless otherwise provided in this Code or the ordinance creating such board or commission.
