§ 2-199. Purpose.

The fire services board will improve fire safety by providing information and giving direction to the community of Haltom City through fire safety programs and education. The purpose of the fire services board shall be as follows:

(1)

To encourage and promote the creation and expansion of neighborhood and business fire safety groups.

(2)

To recommend and implement both long-term and short-term actions resulting in a reduction of fire loss in the city, focusing on awareness, fire prevention consortiums neighborhood and business fire safety and education.

(3)

To recommend, originate, plan, coordinate and implement comprehensive fire safety programs for all segments of the populations.

(4)

To confer with and advise residents and business operators of means in which they may best protect their property against fire and other hazards.

(5)

To provide fire safety information and education to residents and businesses.
