Latest version.
  • A.

Where uncertainty exists with respect to the boundaries of the various districts, as shown on the map accompanying and made a part of this ordinance, the following rules shall apply:

    1.

The district boundaries are either streets, alleys, or railroad right-of-way unless otherwise shown, and where the districts designated on the map accompanying and made a part of this ordinance are bounded approximately by street or alley lines, said street or alley shall be construed to be the boundary of such district. Where the districts designated on the map accompanying and made a part of this ordinance are bounded approximately by railroad right-of-way lines, public rights-of-way, or the center line of the railroad right-of-way, said right-of-way or center line shall be construed to be the boundary of the district.

    2.

Where the district boundaries are not otherwise indicated and where the property has been or may hereafter be divided into blocks and lots, the district boundaries shall be construed to be lot lines, and where the districts designated on the map accompanying and made a part of this ordinance are bounded approximately by lot lines, said lot line shall be construed to be the boundary of such districts unless said boundaries are otherwise indicated on the map.

    3.

In un-subdivided property, the district boundary lines on the map accompanying and made a part of this ordinance shall be determined by use of the scale contained on such map, unless dimensions are shown.

    4.

Boundaries indicated as approximately following the city limits shall be construed as following the city limits.

    5.

Boundaries indicated as following the centerlines of streams or rivers or the shoreline of lakes or ponds shall be construed as following such centerlines or shorelines as the case may be.

    6.

Whenever any street, alley, or other public way is vacated by official action of the city council, or whenever such area is franchised for building purposes; the zoning district line adjoining each side of such street, alley, or other public way shall be automatically extended to the centerline of such vacated street, alley or way and all area so involved shall then and henceforth be subject to all regulations of the extended districts.
